Looking over students work I have noticed 90% of you aren’t using a grid system to design. I’ve provided you all with a choice of either a 12 column or 16 column grid structure, which you can download from Blackboard.

Check out the new background ads on Wallpaper. Utilizing space cut out of the framework.
weare8 have created a little blog for their unsuccessful 2014 common wealth games pitch. Not sure about the hierarchy and viewing structure of the site, but I do like the homepage design and layout, colour scheme and ‘sticky out arrows’ on the work pages. The image rotation probably would have looked better with a right-left scroll instead of a fade but hey ho.
Some quite useful information in terms of where users eyes flow around websites.
Even though I’m a life-long RED, I can confidently say that City are years ahead of us in terms of Web Design and Build. Take a look for yourself….
Another nice site, with visible grid structure. Take a look….. I personally like the yellow hovers on the homepage. Typography is also very well considered.
An obvious grid structure throughout the site that could work well for features in magazines.

Probably the site I use most when looking to inspiration and research. This design blog gives you a number of options when searching through catalogues of genre’s. Whether it be editorial, corporate, typographic… it has pretty much everything.

Just came across this site and apart from the strong photography, I quite like the menu and it’s highlights. The white space at the top gives the site some time to breathe. The header font works well, but I don’t particularly want to marry the support type - using a serif font doesn’t exactly do it for me, especially how it has been utlilized. Overall, an average site - but I like the menu !
